Welcome all to my blog. I am new to the blogging community so I welcome your feedback and comments.
So you must be thinking what the heck is this T- Rex business? Well allow me to fill you in. My sister and I have comically named a pear shaped body a T-Rex. You know, tiny arms with virtually no shoulders, but large, powerful legs, full of mass and thighs. A tiger's body is well balanced. A broad and powerful upper body with wide shoulders are accompanied by strong, muscular hind legs. This blog will be all about my quest to obtain the tiger's shape (or close to it) by transforming my T-Rex frame.
For as long as I can remember, I have had little upper body strength or mass. It has always been difficult for me to build strength, power and muscular development from the waist above. I have a small waist and am grateful (thanks to genes) for a flat stomach like my mother's. Like the T-Rex, I am not lacking in the mass department in my legs and thighs. Unfortunately we T-Rex's gain weight in the bottom half of our bodies easily, especially the hips and thighs. I can squat like nobody's business, but getting me to Arnold press is a chore. I have always enjoyed physical activity, but things that allow me to use the power in my legs such as lunging, spinning and running. What I need to do is put most of the focus above the waist and start serious weight lifting. I have done my research and met with a consultant at the gym and all roads lead to one direction. HEAVY upper body lifting at 5-8 reps with two sets or so. For the lower body, an abundance of cardio, light weights and a lots of reps. Not to be forgotten, a clean and lean diet. Plenty of fish, skinless chicken breast and greens. This will be a challenge, as I do love my OH Henry's, butter tarts and a nice goblet of Shiraz (and I do mean goblet.) The good news is that I do love healthy foods too (thanks Mom for all the good, clean home cooking and making me eat my veggies as a kid.)
I know that I will not be looking like Ms. Monica Brant (the true tigress in my opinion) but I will be happy with realistic progress and goals. Slimming of the hips and broadening of the shoulders shouldn't be an impossible feat right? Today I did a heavy upper body session at the gym and 20 minutes of cardio afterwards from the app HiiT. Great app to build stamina by the way.
So join me on my journey, the highs, lows and plateaus as I transform from T-Rex to (gulp) tigress. I know the road ahead will not be without its struggles and at times seems daunting, but a I am ready for the challenge. I would also welcome any advice or tips to assist me in achieving this goal.
Thanks.
